Chic Jack’s Vintage Clothing

I had the pleasure of visiting the new store, Chick Jack’s photographing vintage clothing with Jack the owner.

CJ’S Vintage Clothing first opened its doors in 1975. That very tiny store on First Avenue in Manhattan sold everything from rugs to clothing and was so successful that a second, larger store on the Avenue soon followed. So now they are in Stamford, CT. and they invite the new community to step back in time at Chic Jack’s, where there is always a comfortable chair, a friendly and knowledgeable staff and a warm smile to greet you.

Abandoned Pennsylvania

The Abandoned Penn Hills Resort In Pennsylvania Is Eerily Elegant.

Everything that’s coveted is eventually forgotten, and fancy resorts are no exception to this rule. Penn Hills Resort, located in the Poconos, was once the crowning glory of honeymoon destinations in the area, with commercials broadcast throughout Pennsylvania as well as in New York City and the entire Northeast. You might remember seeing these commercials; or maybe you once stayed at Penn Hills during its lifespan from 1944- 2009.

Bellows Falls, Vermont

PRESS RELEASE 2016

Art Exhibit: August through October- Abstract and Landscape Photography of Jimmy ienner, Jr.

Opening Reception: August 19th, 4pm to 7pm, in conjunction with BF3F

Location: Flat Iron Exchange, 51 the Square, Bellows Falls, VT 05101

Starting August 1st, and throughout the month of October, the Flat Iron Exchange will be showcasing the photographic artwork of Jimmy ienner, Jr.

Jimmy’s true passion lies in landscape photography and photojournalism. He has been enamored with railroads since he was young, even having his own model train room as a boy. His passion led him to Bellows Falls, Vermont in the summer of 1993.  Being one of a selected few given private access to the Green Mountain Railroad, Jimmy fell in love with the environment in which Bellows Falls sits. Year after year, Jimmy has returned with camera in hand, slowly acquiring a large catalogue of images. He now brings to you some of his work from years in the making of Abstract and Landscape photography. The shots represent the Old Railroad and Old Mills in Bellows Falls VT, including some shots taken just across the river in New Hampshire at the Historic Round House. Partial proceeds to benefit The Preservation Trust of Vermont projects within the town of Rockingham.

Santa’s Land, Vermont

Driving past the famous Santa’s Land amusement park today, I remembered as a child the happy times my family and I had there. We would visit the park around the holidays in the early 70’s and my favorite memory was seeing the Spider Monkeys. In 2014, the grounds were closed for good, allegedly for poor management and cruelty to animals. I’m sad to see it closed and reading about the reason for the closure, if any of it is true.

Braddock, Pennsylvania

Spent a few days photographing Braddock. Arguably the roughest, toughest and most financially broke town in the state of Pennsylvania.

Mysterious Town Centralia Pennsylvania Still Burns

Its population has dwindled from over 1,000 residents in 1981 to 10 in 2012 as a result of a mine fire burning beneath the borough since 1962. Centralia is the least-populated municipality in Pennsylvania. Roger Avery, director of the “Silent Hill” movie, has said part of his inspiration for the movie was from Centralia. What helped me during the post-production process was listening to the Carnivàle soundtrack. (From the Original HBO Series) by composer Jeff Beal along with music by composer Cliff Martinez.

I spent the day driving with my friend Steve from New York State to Connecticut. We photographed everything we could along the way including this old abandoned motel, old rail road tracks and railway bridges.

Abandoned NY State Village

Not far west of the Tappan Zee Bridge I spent the morning photographing this old abandoned village. This place has some nice architecture and overgrown vines that cover most of the buildings.
